And this means that the time has come for a riot of colour in our township! Bearded iris is in fashion this season. Bright, rich and very soulful...That particular plant was chosen by Irina as the main landscaper of the township to improve our waterfront. And it isn’t only because of its beauty...
A plant such as iris is also called a dwarf iris or water flag. The name of this flower is translated as "rainbow". This plant was named personally by Hippocrates in honour of the goddess of the rainbow, Iris. The legend says that at the moment when Prometheus was grantinga fire to people a rainbow shone - it was the rejoicing of nature. This rainbow was shining throughout the day and night, and after the sunlight illuminated the earth, people were amazed at the sight of unbelievably beautiful flowers called irises. They looked so much like a rainbow.
